Tankless Water Heaters

No more scalding!! Would you like the luxury of an endless supply of hot water? How about the ability to control temperatures at different locations throughout the home or office? Well then we can help you!! Our on demand tankless water heaters can make your home safer and more efficient.

So, how does it work?

working_heater_big.jpg

1. A hot water tap is opened...
2. The water enters the heater.
3. A water flow sensor detects the water flow.
4. The computer automatically ignites the burner.
5. The water circulates through the heat exchanger (coil).
6. The heat exchanger instantly heats the water
at the designated temperature. (this takes only 5 seconds)
7. The heater can provide you with endless hot water continuously.
8. No more running out of hot water in the middle of a shower!
When the hot water tap is turned off, the unit shuts down automatically.

Tankless water heater brand information:

We are not suppliers; we are certified installers of tankless heaters and all hydronic heating.  After extensive research and first hand experience, we have chosen to offer and support the manufacturers listed below.  We carry all available models offered by these manufacturers.

Most gas fired tankless water heaters are fundamentally the same.  They all have a heat exchanger, fan motor, gas valves and monitoring controls.

Here is a list of recommended manufacturers and characteristics unique to their line of tankless heaters.

Rinnai:  Uses a concentric vent pipe to provide combustion air to the appliance and to exhaust combustion products to the outside atmosphere.  Rinnai is the only manufacturer to offer a concentric direct vent pipe for all their tankless heaters.  The Rinnai water heaters have maximum input ratings ranging from 180,000 to 199,000 Btu’s.  Both new units can be used for dual purpose heating (domestic hot water and space heating).  These units serve up to 3 fixtures simultaneously, depending on the model.  Because of their concentric venting, we often install 2 units side by side for high flow applications.

Takagi:  There are several models available, ranging from 144,000 Btu’s up to 235,000 Btu’s.  Takagi has the only high efficiency, condensing tankless heater available in North America.  With up to 95% energy efficiency, the T-H1 is the most technologically advanced water heater on the instantaneous water heater market today. The new T-H1 is equipped with a pre-heating system and built-in neutralizer that provides greater efficiency and reliability.  Takagi tankless heaters are certified for both domestic water heating and hydronic heating applications.  These units supply up to 3 fixtures simultaneously, depending on the model.

Navien:  In addition to all the usual tankless features like an endless supply of hot water and space savings, the Navien “Condensing 98%” is the most environmentally friendly tankless water heater on the market. The Navien models eliminate more than 85% of the flue gas wasted by standard tankless water heaters, reducing CO2 emissions by at least 420 lbs less per unit per year. That equates to the photosynthesis work of approximately 14 trees or driving a car 420 miles less per year.

Navien comes to market with an exceptional collection of features including:

  • Exceptional performance: the optional “A” models include a mini-buffer tank eliminating the minimum flow rate requirement and the so-called “cold water sandwich” and a built-in pump offers recirculation capability for hot water to the faucets quicker and water savings;

  • Premium materials: dual stainless heat exchangers;

  • One of the best warranties in the business (12 yr./6 yr.);

  • Direct Vent: all “Condensing 98%” models are direct vent, making them the perfect indoor unit for energy efficient homes and buildings;

We can discuss your specific needs and help you decide which unit and which manufacturer will be best for you.

What you save when you switch to a tankless heater:

Conventional gas hot water tank:

Rental fees:                                        $18.00/month         $229.00/ year after GST

Gas charges for a family of 4:         $33.33/month         $400.00 plus delivery costs!

Going tankless:

Rental fees:                                           $0.00/month                $0.00/year

Gas charges for a family of 4:         $16-22/month         $192-$264.00 plus delivery costs

Savings using a tankless heater:

Rental fees: $242.00

Gas savings: $136-$208.00

Total savings by going tankless: $378.00-$450/year

Cost of the average tankless installation: $3180.00 including GST.

Number of years to pay for original expense: 6 ½ - 8 years.

This assumes natural gas prices remain constant.  Over the last 5 years, natural gas prices have risen over 135%!

After factoring in a nominal increase in natural gas prices over the next 5 years, your investment would be paid off in 5-6 years.  This is equal to a 16 to 20% return on investment.

We have many customers who have converted to our tankless water and/or heating systems that have documented a 40% reduction in gas consumption from year to year. Savings are even greater if you are using electricity for either hot water heating or home heating.
